Since Megashares supports large files, it's alittle different to download from them compared to other sites that support small files only (split files).
Please leave a comment below if you need further help. I have tried this myself and it works great. Speeds don't seem to be capped either, the only cap is the download limit per time period.
This method is known to work for
Orbit and supposedly works with FlashGet as well, but I haven't tested that yet so I will not include it. I will update this tutorial as soon as I do test it.
NOTE: This should work with other download managers as well.. if anyone wants to test; please report back your results!
Note: they claim 550MB as their limit but I've noticed that it starts at 1GB then 550MB for everytime after that; weird.. but good!
Prerequisites: Install Orbit and a browser of your choice.
1. Go to the download link page and click on 'Regular Download'.
2. Don't download yet. Activate your passport first by answering the captcha and activating your passport again.
3. Once you reactivated it, it will look like this. Now, right click on download file and copy the URL to your clipboard. The link should look like: http://webprodXX.megashares.com/...
4. Open up Orbit, and click the 'New' button on the top left, under the File menu.
5. This little window will pop up, simply paste the link you copied from step 3 into the URL text area.Change all the other settings to your liking. Start the download whenever you're ready.
6. It should now start downloading..
7. It will then stop at around 550MB or 1GB, whatever it said on the site. NOTE: once the download "stops", it will either stay in the "Downloading" bucket or move to the "Inactive" bucket; this depends on your "Retry" setting found in Preferences -> Limits. If "always retry" is ticked, it will stay in the "downloading" bucket, otherwise, once it reaches its retry limit then it will put the download in the "inactive" bucket.
7a. this is how it looks in the "inactive" bucket:
8. Now once it's "stopped".. if you go back to the download page and try downloading again you will get this: (at this point, you have to wait until it renews again (with more than 0bytes left), the time left is shown on the page).
9. Once you have more than 0 bytes to download, (i.e. 550MB or 1GB) just reactivate the passport. If you have 'Always Retry' ticked (in Preferences -> Limits), then you can just reactivate the passport and it should automatically resume downloading itself. If it's not ticked then you must go in the "inactive" bucket (on the left-hand side of Orbit) and start the download again to resume.
NOTE: If you try to resume on your passport that has no bandwidth, Orbit will overwrite the file and all your previously downloaded data on the file will be lost. I heard this is not the case with FlashGet, I will confirm this soon.
10. This is a resumed download.. now just repeat until completely downloaded!
Happy downloading!
